Protecting Utah: How State Sovereignty Can Preserve Red Values Against California’s Leftist Invasion

As an Iranian-American, ex-Muslim, and former vegan, I have seen firsthand the dangers of unchecked political ideologies that aim to uproot the values and cultures that make a state, and a nation, great. In my time as Executive Director of CAIR-Columbus and President of the Muslim Forum of Utah, I became deeply aware of the globalist ideologies that push for the breakdown of national and local sovereignty, allowing far-left values to invade conservative regions. This issue is glaringly evident in Utah, which has been slowly, yet steadily, encroached upon by leftist Californians who are turning our once strong red state into a battleground for blue state policies.

The California exodus to Utah is nothing new. What once seemed like a blessing of new residents seeking freedom from the high taxes, crime, and homelessness of their home state has become a curse. Organizations like the Utah Better Institute have made it clear that their agenda is to reshape Utah in the image of California. These radical groups aim to turn our homes into sanctuaries of leftist policies, from progressive tax schemes to policies that promote illegal immigration and transgender activism. The goal is to transform Utah into a mirror of San Francisco, a city infamous for its homelessness crisis, high crime rates, and rampant liberal policies that make it increasingly difficult for regular, hard-working people to thrive.

While Utah has long been a stronghold of conservative values, these invaders—whether they come as individuals or in the form of organizations—are working tirelessly to erode the state’s core beliefs. They bring with them not just their families, but their political ideologies and social agendas that run contrary to our deep-rooted values. The result? Slowly but surely, Utah is turning from red to purple, with the possibility of it becoming another blue state on the horizon.

But this doesn’t have to be our future. We can reverse the trend and reclaim our state's identity by reasserting the power of state sovereignty. The concept of state sovereignty is one that has been long overlooked in the face of federal overreach. The idea is simple: let the states take back control of their own destinies, without being forced to adhere to the whims of Washington or out-of-state invaders. This can be done by giving more power to individual states to make decisions that reflect their values, not the ones imposed upon them by the federal government or by outside groups.

One effective way to ensure that Utah remains a strong red state is through the implementation of state passports. This is a measure that has been proposed in various conservative circles and would allow states to protect their cultures from outside influence. A state passport would effectively prevent people from blue states, like California, from moving to Utah and imposing policies that go against the values of the local population. It would act as a shield to protect our state’s political and cultural identity, allowing us to preserve what makes Utah unique and prosperous.

Just as California’s disastrous policies have pushed many of its residents to other states, we must ensure that Utah does not fall victim to the same fate. By strengthening our state sovereignty and implementing measures to protect our borders from ideological invaders, we can ensure that Utah remains a bastion of conservative values, free from the intrusion of radical, progressive agendas.

It’s time for Utah to take a stand. By providing our state with the power to protect itself through state sovereignty and safeguards against the blue state migration, we can preserve our way of life and secure a bright future for generations to come. Let’s protect our families, our communities, and our beliefs by rejecting the California-led invasion and reclaiming the principles that have made Utah a beacon of freedom and conservative values in America.
