The Growing Divide: How the LDS Church May Lose Conservative Members by Appeasing the Globalist Red-Green Axis

By Bobby Darvish, Iranian-American Ex-Muslim, Former Vegan, Former Democrat, Former Socialist, Former CAIR-Columbus Executive Director, Former Muslim Forum of Utah President, Former Pagan, Christian Conservative LDS Priest

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and a proud American conservative with deep roots in both my Iranian and Christian heritage, I have found myself increasingly concerned about the direction the Church may take in its current political engagement. The growing influence of the globalist red-green axis—an alliance between leftist Marxists and radical Islamists—presents an existential threat not only to the values that make America great but also to the values that the LDS Church has traditionally upheld. If the Church were to push further into appeasing this axis, it could alienate its conservative members, who are the bedrock of its strength in America.

For years, the LDS Church has built its reputation on promoting strong family values, individual liberty, and a deep respect for religious freedom. These values resonate with many conservative Americans who view their faith not only as a personal conviction but as a guiding light for how to live in a nation founded on the principles of the U.S. Constitution. However, as the political landscape has shifted, certain movements within the LDS Church appear to be gravitating toward a stance that could compromise those fundamental beliefs. I see this shift most acutely in the push to appease forces that have aligned themselves with the globalist red-green axis.

Understanding the Red-Green Axis

The "red-green axis" refers to the increasingly noticeable alliance between far-left political movements (the "red" Marxists and socialists) and radical Islamic groups (the "green" Islamists). This coalition has been growing in strength, both in the U.S. and globally, with the aim of pushing radical ideologies on matters of economics, immigration, and cultural norms. Marxists seek to dismantle traditional social structures, and Islamists strive to enforce their religious and political ideologies. Both of these forces often clash with conservative values like individual liberty, free markets, and traditional family structures.

The LDS Church's Role

While the LDS Church has made it clear in the past that it stands for religious freedom, I am increasingly concerned about the direction it may take in the future. Many conservative members of the Church, including myself, view the globalist agenda with skepticism and alarm. The leftist forces in this coalition seek to fundamentally transform society, eroding traditional American values and fostering a climate of dependency and authoritarianism. When the Church signals support for policies aligned with this agenda—such as open borders, social justice activism, and the appeasement of radical Islam—it risks alienating its conservative base.

As a former socialist, I know firsthand the dangers of collectivism and the erosion of individual freedoms. This is why many of us who hold conservative views within the Church fear that these values may be undermined if the Church continues to align itself with policies that cater to leftist ideologies. Furthermore, the influence of radical Islamic ideas, which directly contradict the Church's teachings on religious freedom, could weaken the foundation of faith for many LDS members who come from conservative or Christian backgrounds.

The Impact on Conservative Members

The embrace of globalist policies by the LDS Church would likely have a significant impact on its conservative members, particularly those of us who hold strong views on issues like the sanctity of life, traditional marriage, and the preservation of American sovereignty. Many of us are already feeling disenfranchised by the Church's shift towards more progressive stances. This includes efforts to push political correctness at the expense of theological and social clarity. For instance, the growing trend to compromise on critical issues like abortion, same-sex marriage, and religious freedom to align with a politically correct agenda will cause many conservative members, especially those who have stood for years as patriots in this country, to question their place in the Church.

Moreover, the pressure to appease globalist forces would mean that the LDS Church might inadvertently find itself in a position where it is no longer a voice for traditional family values and Christian conservatism. This is not just a matter of politics—it is a matter of preserving the identity and integrity of the Church itself.

A Call for Courageous Leadership

What the LDS Church needs now is courageous leadership that resists the pressure from the globalist red-green axis. It must stand firm on its principles and support conservative values—values that have long been part of its DNA. Instead of compromising on critical issues like religious freedom, immigration policy, and family values, the Church should focus on strengthening its commitment to defending these ideals.

This leadership requires understanding the importance of sovereignty, the rule of law, and the preservation of individual liberty—core tenets that are under attack by the radical left and Islamists. By embracing these ideals, the Church can continue to inspire its members to be faithful disciples of Christ and strong supporters of the American way of life.

Conclusion

As an Iranian-American who has lived through the oppression of authoritarian regimes, a former socialist who has seen the failures of collectivism, and a devout Christian who believes in the divine principles of freedom and family, I urge the LDS Church to consider the consequences of appeasing the globalist red-green axis. If the Church continues to push policies that align with these radical movements, it risks losing its conservative base and alienating many members who hold to traditional American values. The future of the LDS Church depends on whether it chooses to remain true to its foundational beliefs or succumb to the pressures of the modern political climate.
