The Scientific Case for Why LGBTQ Practices Lead to Societal Decline

The Scientific Case for Why LGBTQ Practices Lead to Societal Decline

By Bobby Darvish, Iranian-American Ex-Muslim, Former Vegan, Former Democrat, Former Socialist, Former CAIR-Columbus Executive Director, Former Muslim Forum of Utah President, Christian Conservative LDS

In recent years, LGBTQ+ issues have dominated the cultural landscape, particularly in the United States, where the normalization and promotion of these lifestyles are now woven into everything from media to corporate policy. As a Christian conservative and former leader within Muslim organizations, I have observed these shifts from multiple perspectives. Once a self-identifying socialist, Democrat, and vegan, I later converted to Christianity and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), embracing a faith-centered worldview grounded in both scripture and scientific rationality.

Through my studies and life experiences, I have become increasingly concerned about the scientific and societal consequences of promoting LGBTQ+ practices. Contrary to popular narratives, research suggests that these lifestyles have significant implications for both individual well-being and societal health. In this article, I’ll explore some of the biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors associated with LGBTQ+ lifestyles and how they may lead to destructive outcomes for both individuals and society at large.

Biological and Evolutionary Concerns

From a purely biological perspective, heterosexual relationships are the basis of reproduction and the continuation of the species. Evolutionary biology emphasizes that natural selection favors traits and behaviors that promote survival and reproduction. Sexuality, traditionally understood, has played a role in ensuring genetic continuity. Homosexuality, however, does not contribute directly to procreation, leading some researchers to question its evolutionary basis.

Studies indicate that there may be biological predispositions in some individuals toward homosexuality, though the genetic evidence remains inconclusive and largely correlational. The American Psychological Association (APA) notes that there is no single cause of homosexuality, and both genetic and environmental factors likely play a rolet’s important to treat individuals with dignity, it’s also crucial to recognize that widespread normalization of lifestyles incompatible with reproductive biology might impact birth rates and population stability, as we have already seen in countries with declining populations such as Japan and certain Western European nations.

Mental Health Implications

Numerous studies have demonstrated a correlation between LGBTQ+ identification and mental health challenges. In particular, individuals within the LGBTQ+ community are statistically more likely to experience higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation compared to their heterosexual counterparts. A study published in JAMA Pediatrics found that LGBTQ+ adolescents are at a significantly higher risk for mental health issues, with nearly 40% reporting suicidal thoughts compared to 15% of heterosexual peers . While that discrimination accounts for this disparity, countries that have embraced LGBTQ+ rights and reduced social stigma still report elevated levels of mental health issues within this demographic.

Psychologists have also noted a troubling trend of identity instability within LGBTQ+ youth, a phenomenon partly attributable to the fluidity and multiplicity of labels within the community. Constant shifts in self-identification can contribute to mental health struggles and an erosion of personal identity, which is critical for psychological well-being. Therefore, encouraging youth to explore these identities without guidance could inadvertently exacerbate mental health problems.

Societal Impact and Cultural Shifts

Historically, stable societies have been underpinned by nuclear families, with clearly defined roles that provide structure and continuity. The promotion of LGBTQ+ lifestyles, along with other forms of alternative family structures, is disrupting these traditional frameworks. For instance, a study published by the Institute for Family Studies found that children raised in stable, two-parent homes perform better academically and are less likely to experience behavioral problems compared to children raised in other family structures .

Furthermore, es become more accepting of non-traditional family dynamics, studies show a decrease in marriage rates and family formation, which are essential to social stability. The economist Paul Samuelson once argued that civilizations decline when they fail to reproduce themselves adequately, leading to potential cultural and demographic crises . The acceptance and celeblifestyles that don’t contribute to family stability can thus have adverse long-term effects, impacting population growth and weakening the social fabric.

Economic Consequences

A society that embraces and incentivizes non-reproductive lifestyles also faces potential economic repercussions. The decrease in birth rates in many developed nations has led to concerns about sustaining the workforce needed to support an aging population. Economists have long warned that a society with more dependents than workers faces enormous strain on its healthcare, pension, and welfare systems .

Moreover, research shows that inwithin the LGBTQ+ community are at a higher risk of experiencing economic instability, often due to discrimination or lack of familial support. With fewer economic advantages, some in the community may require increased public assistance, placing additional strain on social welfare programs. A balanced economic system requires a robust workforce that can support both the young and the elderly, yet LGBTQ+ normalization may indirectly discourage birth rates and weaken the economic infrastructure.

Conclusion: A Call for a Return to Scientific and Moral Clarity

While respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals, it’s also essential to recognize that some societal norms have served humanity well for millennia. As an Iranian-American, ex-Muslim Christian, I have seen first-hand how cultural shifts can weaken the social foundations of communities. Embracing LGBTQ+ lifestyles without understanding their biological and social limitations risks pushing our society toward a path of demographic and moral decline.

As we move forward, we must consider both the scientific data and the cultural traditions that have helped societies prosper. By supporting traditional family values, we can encourage a future that upholds the dignity of individuals and the integrity of the society we all rely on.
