How Dr. John Dehlin’s Mormon Stories Podcast is a Tool for the Globalist Red-Green Axis and Cultural Marxism
By Bobby Darvish, Iranian-American Ex-Muslim, Former Vegan, Former Democrat, Former Socialist, Former CAIR-Columbus Executive Director, Former Muslim Forum of Utah President, Christian Conservative LDS
As an Iranian-American, former Muslim, and now devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have firsthand experience with ideologies that seek to undermine America’s values, freedoms, and conservative faith traditions. The Mormon Stories podcast, led by Dr. John Dehlin, exemplifies the kind of cultural Marxism that thrives on dismantling the foundational beliefs and institutions that make America strong. What I see in Mormon Stories is not just criticism of religious institutions but an insidious campaign to break down conservative Christianity and pave the way for a world influenced by globalist and Marxist principles, backed by what I refer to as the “red-green axis”—the unholy alliance between the radical Left and Islamism.
The Mask of “Free Thought” and “Open Dialogue”
At first glance, Mormon Stories appears to be an outlet for those who want to explore faith in a way that encourages open dialogue and free thought. However, beneath this veneer lies a carefully orchestrated campaign targeting not just The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but all conservative churches that uphold traditional values. Dehlin’s interviews and commentary are consistently slanted against the Church, not out of a genuine critique or love for faith but as part of an agenda that favors the values of woke cultural Marxism over the moral and spiritual foundations of the Church. This agenda, masked as progressivism, undermines religious conservatism, aiming to turn people away from faith-based communities toward secular, state-centered ideologies.
The Red-Green Axis and Cultural Marxism
In many discussions on Mormon Stories, Dehlin presents guests and perspectives that align with the progressive Left, often at the expense of conservative Christian values. The alignment with cultural Marxism and the red-green axis is unmistakable. Cultural Marxism, rooted in Critical Theory, attacks the core pillars of American society: religion, family, and community. This ideology frames all traditional structures as oppressive, especially conservative churches.
Dehlin’s narrative often paints these institutions as backward, controlling, and morally outdated, while he elevates woke progressive ideologies that align with cultural Marxist values. The alliance between Marxism (the “red”) and Islamism (the “green”) works to destabilize and undermine Christian communities in America. The red-green axis sees America’s moral compass, largely upheld by conservative churches, as a threat to its vision of globalized, authoritarian governance.
The Dangers of Wokeism as a Cult
Dehlin’s podcast peddles woke ideology not only as an intellectual framework but as a belief system in itself—a cult-like adherence to relativism and cultural subversion. This worldview is heavily invested in destabilizing individuals’ traditional values and creating allegiance to progressive social causes that replace faith with a new kind of secular “morality.” For listeners who may be questioning their faith, Mormon Stories offers what seems like a compassionate, understanding embrace, yet it is a trap that leads them away from the strength and comfort of faith in Jesus Christ.
Instead of helping those who struggle with aspects of their faith find deeper meaning and resolution within their religious framework, Dehlin often encourages deconstruction—urging people to abandon their beliefs rather than reconcile with them. This pattern is not accidental; it’s part of the Marxist framework to dismantle faith-based community structures and replace them with allegiance to globalist and statist ideologies.
Undermining American Values by Attacking the Church
Dehlin’s criticisms are rarely constructive. They are aimed at discrediting, dividing, and deconstructing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These criticisms are designed to sow distrust and resentment, especially among younger listeners who may be more vulnerable to the promises of “freedom” from traditional norms. By peddling these destructive ideas, Dehlin’s podcast aids the broader movement seeking to dismantle the family, morality, and ultimately, the fabric of American society.
America is unique because it was founded on principles rooted in Judeo-Christian values, and the LDS Church has been a champion of these values, emphasizing family, self-reliance, and community service. Yet, Mormon Stories, with its thinly veiled disdain for these principles, seeks to disrupt these connections and reframe them as oppressive. This narrative is dangerous, as it aims to make faith communities feel isolated, oppressed, and alienated within their own country—a tactic Marxism has used for generations to erode societies from within.
Conclusion: The Need to Guard Against Ideological Subversion
As a former CAIR executive director and an ex-Muslim who has seen firsthand the impacts of ideological control and manipulation, I recognize that Mormon Stories is not just a podcast. It is an ideological platform for dismantling faith and community under the guise of progressive “understanding.” The Church is one of America’s last bastions of true conservatism and patriotism; it’s one of the few institutions that still encourages self-reliance, personal responsibility, and moral courage. Dehlin’s attacks on the Church are part of a broader effort to destabilize faith in all conservative religions and clear the path for a secular, authoritarian state.
In an era when our values are constantly under assault, it is vital that we remain vigilant. We must recognize that organizations and individuals pushing for the destruction of our faith are often motivated by a sinister agenda. Let us stand strong in our beliefs, support our faith communities, and expose the ideological traps laid by those who, like Dehlin and his Mormon Stories, have no love for what makes America great.
