Democrat Insurrectionists are in Election Denial: Kamala Harris Says ‘Keep Fighting’

In the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election, Americans are once again witnessing the Democratic Party’s refusal to accept a legitimate outcome. Instead of respecting the decision made at the ballot box, prominent Democrats, led by Kamala Harris, have chosen to respond with a thinly veiled message of defiance. At a time when unity and stability should be the goal, Harris has set the stage for division, her words reverberating through the actions of her supporters who have taken to the streets in protest. “Keep fighting,” she declared in her first speech after the election, as her voice cracked, a message that hints at resistance rather than reconciliation. The implication is clear: Harris and her supporters are not ready to accept this outcome.

When Harris spoke these “two words”—“keep fighting”—she did so to a crowd at Howard University, an institution symbolically tied to the civil rights struggle and political activism. She delivered her statement with a tone that was anything but a concession, adding that “the light of the American promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up.” The rhetoric was charged and purposeful, designed to rally her base at a time when America needs healing, not hostility. But what exactly does she want her supporters to “never give up” on? To many, it sounds like an endorsement of rejecting the electoral process itself—a call to continue resisting an election result that she does not deem worthy of acceptance.

The contrast with previous vice presidents is stark. Al Gore, for example, after the highly contested 2000 election, ultimately conceded peacefully despite months of legal battles, setting an example of respect for the democratic process. Similarly, candidates like John McCain and Mitt Romney, though critical of their opponents’ platforms, encouraged their supporters to accept the results. By comparison, Harris’s “keep fighting” message subtly undermines the peaceful transition of power—a tradition and cornerstone of American democracy.

This problematic stance is reflected in the actions of Harris’s supporters, who gathered in major cities to protest Donald Trump’s victory. Reports from Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia reveal groups chanting anti-Trump slogans like “Donald Trump, you fascist clown,” while carrying banners emblazoned with statements such as “End the Trump Era” and “Trump Out!” Rather than standing for democratic principles, these demonstrations echo the kind of election denial the Democrats have long condemned in others.

For years, Democrats have been quick to label any skepticism of election results as “insurrection” and “democracy in crisis.” The hypocrisy in their stance today is almost palpable. Now, as they call into question Trump’s victory, they appear to apply a different standard to themselves. When Republicans or conservatives raise concerns, Democrats characterize them as threats to democracy. Yet, here they are, in denial, protesting the results and fanning the flames of discord under the banner of “justice” and “resistance.” This is not merely a double standard; it is an attempt to manipulate and redefine democratic principles to suit their agenda.

Harris’s pledge to engage in a “peaceful transfer of power” during her concession speech rings hollow in light of the public response she appears to endorse. Her words, though masked as gracious, seem to be more about placating formalities rather than genuinely supporting a democratic handover. As she told Trump that she would assist with the transition, her supporters outside chanted slogans that made it clear they were anything but willing to accept his administration.

The response from Democrat strongholds and liberal cities shows a deeply ingrained unwillingness to abide by the very democratic processes Democrats once claimed were sacred. The protests, the vitriol, and the general atmosphere of resistance reveal a troubling reality: for many of today’s Democrats, “democracy” seems to be only a tool when it serves their interests. The ideal of a “peaceful transition of power” is conditional for them—it’s valid only when they’re the ones taking the reins.

The implications of this election denial are profound. If Democrats normalize resisting lawful elections when they lose, they undermine the foundations of American democracy itself. In this vein, Harris’s “keep fighting” call, coupled with the fervor of her supporters, seems less about resilience and more about a refusal to respect our electoral system. To put it bluntly, if resistance becomes the automatic response to a legal and fair election, we risk entering an era where democratic outcomes are regularly challenged, and stability is jeopardized.

As conservatives, we must recognize the danger in this precedent. We must call out this hypocrisy for what it is: a denial of the very democratic norms Democrats claim to uphold. We have a responsibility to defend the core values of American democracy—values that emphasize lawful elections, peaceful transitions, and a respect for the voice of the people, no matter the result.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. If we allow such hypocritical denial to become acceptable, we risk encouraging a culture of defiance over unity, partisanship over patriotism, and instability over peace. Conservatives must remain resolute in calling out election denial when it rears its head—regardless of which side perpetuates it. Today, it’s the Democrats who are in denial, and we must stand strong in defense of democracy itself.
