The 2024 presidential election revealed an incredible shift in voting patterns among Native Americans, especially those who identify as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). As a proud conservative Christian with a heritage as diverse as it is meaningful, I am deeply gratified to see that Native Americans have embraced President Donald Trump, recognizing him as a leader who represents their values and fights for their communities. Knowing that I carry even 1% Native DNA fills me with pride, as I share in this celebration of cultural resilience and conservative unity.
The Conservative Values of Native Americans
Native American cultures have long embodied principles that align with conservatism. Respect for family, community, and tradition is deeply rooted in their way of life. The emphasis on hard work, self-reliance, and the stewardship of the land resonates profoundly with conservative ideals.
This connection is especially evident among LDS Native Americans, who embrace the teachings of the Book of Mormon and its stories of ancient peoples living on the American continent. The LDS Church places a high value on family, faith, and freedom—principles that Native communities have upheld for centuries.
In the 2024 election, these shared values translated into overwhelming support for Trump, who has consistently championed the importance of religious freedom, family values, and economic opportunity for all Americans, including Native peoples.
President Trump’s Impact on Native Communities
Under Trump’s leadership, Native American communities saw tangible improvements that earned their trust and respect. The administration supported tribal sovereignty, reduced government overreach, and increased funding for Native healthcare and education. Tribal leaders praised Trump’s focus on economic development, which included expanding infrastructure projects and providing access to resources for energy independence.
Trump’s America First agenda resonated with many Native voters who are tired of being treated as political pawns by the left. Unlike Democrats, who often use identity politics to divide and exploit minority groups, Trump’s policies focused on empowering Native Americans as equal citizens with the tools to thrive independently.
Why LDS Native Americans Are Key to the Conservative Movement
For LDS Native Americans, voting for Trump in 2024 was a natural extension of their religious and cultural beliefs. The LDS Church teaches the importance of agency, accountability, and moral clarity—all principles that align with Trump’s vision for America. Additionally, the LDS doctrine emphasizes the sacred role of families, which Trump has vowed to protect from progressive ideologies that threaten to undermine traditional values.
As a member of the LDS Church myself, I see how our faith strengthens our resolve to defend conservative principles. It is no coincidence that LDS-majority states like Utah continue to be strongholds of support for Trump and his policies. The unity between LDS teachings and conservative politics is a testament to the enduring power of faith in shaping our political choices.
My Personal Joy in This Outcome
As an Iranian-American ex-Muslim, former socialist, and proud Christian conservative, I see the 2024 election as a turning point for America. The fact that Native Americans, including those of LDS faith, overwhelmingly supported Trump fills me with hope for our nation’s future.
For me, this is also personal. Knowing that I carry even a small percentage of Native American DNA makes me feel connected to this historic moment. It is as if my ancestors—however distant—are celebrating alongside me, rejoicing in the triumph of faith, freedom, and family over the divisive forces of leftist ideology.
Trump’s reelection is more than a political victory; it is a reaffirmation of the values that unite us as Americans. Native Americans have shown that they are not beholden to the progressive left. Instead, they are embracing their sovereignty, their traditions, and their faith—and standing firmly with conservative values.
This outcome gives me hope not just as an individual but as a believer in the enduring strength of America’s cultural and spiritual foundations.
