The Left’s Projection: Biden’s Presidential Imperialism and the Truth About Project 2025
By Bobby Darvish, Iranian-American Ex-Muslim, Former Vegan, Former Democrat, Former Socialist, Former CAIR-Columbus Executive Director, Former Muslim Forum of Utah President, Christian Conservative LDS
The Biden administration has epitomized presidential imperialism, consolidating power and undermining the constitutional framework that has preserved American liberty for centuries. Yet, in a glaring act of projection, the American left has accused conservatives of scheming to centralize power through Project 2025—a visionary plan that, in reality, seeks to restore the balance of power and uphold constitutional governance.
Having once been a member of the left, I understand their tactics. As a former vegan, socialist, and Democrat, I was immersed in the narrative of government as a benevolent force. My experience as the Executive Director of CAIR-Columbus and President of the Muslim Forum of Utah exposed me to the ways progressive ideologies exploit institutions to expand their influence. But as I embraced conservative Christianity and examined the actions of the Biden administration, I saw the stark reality of leftist overreach—and how Project 2025 represents the exact opposite of what they claim.
Biden’s Imperial Presidency: A Record of Overreach
Under President Biden, we have witnessed an unprecedented centralization of executive power, often at the expense of Congress and the judiciary. From issuing executive orders that circumvent legislative processes to weaponizing federal agencies like the Department of Justice against political opponents, Biden has stretched the limits of presidential authority. The left calls this "saving democracy," but in truth, it is a dangerous consolidation of power.
For example, Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan bypassed Congress entirely, despite the Constitution clearly granting the power of the purse to the legislative branch. Furthermore, his administration has openly colluded with Big Tech to suppress dissenting voices under the guise of combatting “misinformation”veal an imperial presidency that operates with little regard for checks and balances.
The Left’s Projection and Project 2025
In a classic move, the left has projected its own behavior onto conservatives. They claim that Project 2025—a strategic initiative by conservative think tanks to prepare for the next Republican presidency—is a plot to impose authoritarian control. Nothing could be further from the truth. Project 2025 is designed to dismantle the bureaucratic state, limit executive overreach, and return power to the people through constitutional governance .
The Biden adm a masterclass in presidential overreach, using federal agencies as tools of political warfare. Project 2025 seeks to prevent such abuses by restructuring the federal government, ensuring accountability, and empowering elected representatives to make decisions rather than unelected bureaucrats. Contrary to the left’s alarmist rhetoric, the plan is a safeguard against the very imperialism the left has embraced during Biden’s tenure.
The Real Threat to Democracy
The left’s fearmongering about Project 2025 obscures the real threat to democracy: their own actions. During Biden’s presidency, we have seen the Department of Justice used to prosecute political opponents, parents labeled as “domestic terrorists” for questioning school boards, and the IRS unleashed on conservative organizations. These are not hypothetical scenarios—they are happening now .
By contrast, Project 2025 envise such abuses are impossible. Its goal is to reinstate constitutional principles, ensuring that the executive branch operates within its proper bounds. It seeks to undo the damage inflicted by decades of progressive overreach and prevent future administrations—Republican or Democrat—from exploiting the presidency as a tool of unchecked power.
Conclusion
As an Iranian-American ex-Muslim, former leftist, and now a proud Christian conservative, I know firsthand how ideological movements can manipulate narratives to maintain control. The left’s attacks on Project 2025 are not based on facts but on fear—fear of losing the imperial presidency they have built under Biden.
Project 2025 is not a threat to democracy; it is a promise to restore it. It represents a return to the principles that have made America a beacon of freedom: limited government, separation of powers, and accountability to the people. As conservatives, we must not only defend this initiative but also expose the left’s projection for what it is—a desperate attempt to deflect from their own abuses of power.
