How Is This a Democracy When Democrats in Washington Burn GOP Voting Drop Boxes?

As an Iranian-American ex-Muslim and conservative Christian, I have deep reverence for the democratic principles that underpin our nation. America, a bastion of freedom and opportunity, was built on values of fair representation, individual rights, and lawful governance—values I hold dearly, especially as someone who has lived under authoritarian oppression. However, recent actions from the Democratic establishment have made me question if the America we know is slipping away. The burning of GOP voting drop boxes and other forms of election interference are not only alarming—they’re outright attacks on democracy itself.
These incidents have been reported across the country and serve as a chilling reminder that political powers in America are willing to manipulate or even subvert our electoral system. For a democracy to function, every vote must be respected, and each voter, regardless of their political leaning, must have their right to vote protected. However, this disturbing trend raises questions about whether the Democratic Party truly believes in these principles.
Democracy hinges on the peaceful and transparent transfer of power, something that has set America apart from the authoritarian regimes many of us fled from. When political factions actively sabotage election infrastructure or intimidate opposing voters, we’re witnessing behaviors more typical of a dictatorship than a democracy. Ironically, it’s often the very people who label themselves as “defenders of democracy” who engage in these underhanded tactics to stifle conservative voices and perpetuate their own power.
Such acts are not just petty partisanship; they are fundamentally anti-democratic. By targeting GOP voting drop boxes, Democrats undermine the ability of conservative voters to participate in elections, hoping to reduce voter turnout in their favor. This is no different than the tactics of regimes that burn ballots or imprison opposition leaders to secure victory. It is a disgraceful betrayal of everything our Founding Fathers envisioned.
In my journey from an oppressive regime to American freedom, I have encountered firsthand the repercussions of a system that silences dissenters. Iran’s theocratic government punishes those who speak against its rule, often violently, to ensure a compliant citizenry. Seeing similar efforts here in America—even at a much smaller scale—sends shivers down my spine.
It’s no wonder that conservative Americans have lost faith in the integrity of our elections. When drop boxes are torched, ballots are mishandled, and conservative voices are suppressed, it sends a clear message that those in power fear the people’s voice. This is not democracy. It is a warped manipulation of the democratic process, one that paves the way toward one-party rule, echoing the totalitarian regimes that so many Americans of diverse backgrounds have fled from.
How can the Democratic Party claim to stand for democracy while simultaneously attempting to dismantle it? Actions like these, coupled with widespread support for policies that suppress free speech and religious freedom, show a clear trajectory toward more centralized control over every aspect of our lives. We must hold these offenders accountable and demand investigations, prosecution, and an unwavering commitment to uphold every American’s voting rights, regardless of political affiliation.
If we truly value our freedom, we cannot afford to be complacent. It’s time to wake up to these anti-democratic tactics and demand transparency and accountability in our elections. America’s strength lies in its diversity of thought and in the robust political discourse that comes from respecting each citizen’s vote. Let’s not lose sight of this fundamental truth, or we risk losing the democracy we hold so dear.
