How Trump Will Overhaul the CIA and Eradicate Its Cultural Marxist and DEI Ideology

The CIA, once a stalwart institution dedicated to national security and intelligence gathering, has become a breeding ground for progressive ideologies that have nothing to do with its primary mission. From Cultural Marxism to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), the agency’s ideological shift threatens not only its efficiency but also the integrity of America’s security. With Donald Trump’s leadership, a significant overhaul is possible, one that removes these damaging ideologies and restores the CIA to its original purpose: safeguarding the United States from both foreign and domestic threats.
As a former executive director of CAIR-Columbus and president of the Muslim Forum of Utah, I have seen firsthand how ideologies like DEI and Cultural Marxism can infiltrate organizations and cloud their core objectives. These ideologies create divisions where unity is essential, promote an agenda that undermines merit-based achievement, and prioritize identity politics over actual threats. The CIA, like many other federal agencies, has been gradually adopting these perspectives, often to the detriment of its core function.
The Rise of Cultural Marxism and DEI in the CIA
Cultural Marxism is an offshoot of Marxist thought that focuses on cultural rather than economic change. It promotes the idea that societal structures, especially those in power, perpetuate inequality based on race, gender, and other identities. In practice, this ideology often results in an overemphasis on diversity at the expense of competence and expertise, promoting divisiveness and grievance rather than unity and security.
DEI initiatives further exacerbate this issue. While these policies may have started with the intention of fostering inclusivity, they have increasingly become a vehicle for advancing ideological purity tests rather than fostering genuine diversity of thought. In the context of the CIA, where national security should be the primary focus, these policies have begun to compromise the agency's effectiveness. Instead of prioritizing experience, intelligence, and strategic thinking, the CIA now finds itself prioritizing identity over merit.
This cultural shift is not just theoretical—it has real-world consequences. Under the influence of these ideologies, the CIA’s priorities have been skewed. For example, instead of focusing on intelligence gathering and counterterrorism, some of the agency’s energy is diverted to implementing DEI training, with little to no direct impact on national security. This diversion of resources and focus undermines the very effectiveness of the CIA in protecting the American people.
Trump’s Vision for the CIA
Donald Trump has consistently demonstrated a commitment to restoring American institutions to their core functions. During his presidency, he took steps to limit the influence of political correctness and ideological purity tests within government agencies. Trump’s approach to the CIA will be no different. He has a unique opportunity to overhaul the agency by removing the Cultural Marxist and DEI ideologies that have infiltrated its ranks.
To achieve this, Trump must prioritize merit-based hiring and promotions within the CIA. This means focusing on the skills and experiences necessary for intelligence work, rather than ideological adherence to left-wing agendas. He should also ensure that the CIA's operations focus solely on its core mission of protecting national security, not engaging in social justice activism.
A Plan for Overhaul
End DEI Initiatives in Intelligence Agencies: First and foremost, Trump must roll back the DEI initiatives within the CIA. These programs have been shown to be ineffective in achieving their goals and distract from the agency’s true mission. The focus should return to hiring the best and brightest individuals based on qualifications, not their race, gender, or political affiliations.
Restore Meritocracy: Trump must ensure that promotions and job assignments are based on the skill and merit of CIA agents. This means that intelligence officers should rise through the ranks based on their ability to perform their duties, not their compliance with DEI or politically correct agendas.
Cut Ties with Leftist Organizations: The CIA should sever any formal or informal connections with organizations that promote Cultural Marxism or left-wing ideology. This includes distancing itself from groups that advocate for identity-based politics, which only serve to divide and weaken national security efforts.
Promote Traditional Values of American Exceptionalism: The CIA should be reminded that it operates as a force for American values—values that transcend political correctness and identity politics. By reinforcing a commitment to American exceptionalism, Trump can guide the agency to recognize its role in protecting the values and freedoms that make this country unique.
Revitalize the Agency’s Original Mission: Finally, Trump’s administration must reinstate the original mission of the CIA: to protect the American people from threats both foreign and domestic. The CIA’s efforts should focus on intelligence gathering, counterterrorism, and safeguarding national interests—not on social justice or cultural politics.
Conclusion
The CIA’s ideological shift has become a significant challenge to its effectiveness, but under Trump’s leadership, this trend can be reversed. By eliminating DEI initiatives and the influence of Cultural Marxism, Trump can restore the agency to its original purpose and ensure that it serves the American people with the utmost focus and competence. It is time for the CIA to prioritize national security over political correctness, and under Trump’s guidance, this vision can become a reality.
