Jeremy Runnells’ Letter to a CES Director as you’ll see it posted today is a hoax.
For those who don’t know, it is no longer what it claimed to be in the beginning. It was originally a much shorter list of sincere personal questions which was put together by Runnells. He started by collecting questions and criticisms that troubled him from anti-Mormon sources and put them into a list to give to his Church Educational System (CES) Director—someone he thought could resolve these issues for him. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen although other members tried to answer his questions. Runnells posted his original questions on the Internet and then requested input from other disaffected members. That original list has become a much longer crowd-sourced list of questions from ex-members and anti-Mormons. More recently it was published as a book.

The questions in Runnels list are not limited to critiquing unofficial doctrines. They cover many areas of Latter-day Saint beliefs now. If it has been asked by anti-Mormons, it’s likely in his letter/book.
Almost all of Runnells’ criticisms have been discussed and answered for many years on sites like FairMormon. Unfortunately, most people lack the Internet skills to find faith-affirming answers. Here is FairMormon’s site on the CES Letter:

Here are the main topics in the CES Letter which are addressed:
- Response to section "Book of Mormon Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Book of Mormon Translation Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "First Vision Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Book of Abraham Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Polygamy/Polyandry Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Prophets Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Kinderhook Plates and Translator/Seer Claims Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Testimony/Spiritual Witness Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Priesthood Restoration Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Witnesses Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Temples & Freemasonry Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Science Concerns & Questions"

- Response to section "Other Concerns & Questions"
- Response to section "Conclusion"
Other authors have also answered these questions as well. Here’s my book answering 130 commonly asked anti-Mormon questions from 25 years ago. It has been in print since 1995, but the same questions still are found in the Letter to a CES Director. Runnels apparently does not accept them as valid. See:

A few years back, a former CES Employee’s (Jim Bennett’s) put together a detailed response to Runnels questions at:
