As an Iranian-American who has lived through both the turmoil of the Middle East and the complexities of American political dynamics, I've come to appreciate the importance of clear, actionable promises when it comes to political leadership. Donald Trump’s presidency and his ongoing campaign for re-election in 2024 have stirred considerable debate, but one thing that cannot be denied is the clarity and direction of his promises. Whether you love him or hate him, his objectives reflect a vision for America’s future rooted in national pride, economic strength, and a commitment to traditional conservative values.
I’ve shifted from the left to the right over the years, transitioning from a Muslim background with strong ties to political Islam to a proud Christian conservative within the LDS faith. This journey has made me acutely aware of the need for policies that not only reflect America’s strengths but also protect our values. Trump’s approach to the promises he made during his time in office and in his campaign for the 2024 election is grounded in achieving real, measurable success.
1. Restoring America’s Economic Strength
Trump’s economic promises were at the core of his 2016 campaign, and he intends to continue this focus in his 2024 bid. His key proposals involve tax cuts, job creation, and reducing burdensome regulations. He has consistently called for reducing corporate tax rates, which in 2017, under his administration, dropped to 21% from 35%. Trump believes in bringing jobs back to America by eliminating trade deals that he believes hurt U.S. workers, such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and renegotiating deals like the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement).
His strategy for economic success revolves around empowering small businesses, cutting unnecessary bureaucratic red tape, and ensuring fair trade practices. As a former businessman, Trump understands that economic growth starts with a pro-business environment. The continuation of his promise to lower taxes, particularly for small businesses and middle-class families, speaks to his goal of stimulating the economy through individual prosperity.
2. Strengthening National Security and Border Protection
A key promise that Trump made, which resonates with my experience as an immigrant who has lived through the challenges of Middle Eastern political chaos, is his unwavering stance on securing America’s borders. Trump famously declared his intention to build a wall on the southern border, a promise that was initially met with skepticism but has continued to be a focal point of his political rhetoric.
Trump’s approach to national security is comprehensive, involving not just physical barriers but also technology and greater enforcement at the border. He has emphasized the need for strict vetting procedures for immigrants and refugees, prioritizing the safety of American citizens. In addition to physical security, he has also supported policies to ensure that law enforcement agencies are equipped with the resources they need to combat crime effectively. This approach is crucial for safeguarding America from external threats and ensuring a safe environment for all Americans.
3. Upholding Constitutional Rights and Protecting Religious Freedom
As a Christian conservative, one of the most critical aspects of Trump’s agenda is his commitment to protecting constitutional rights, especially the First Amendment. The right to free speech, religious liberty, and the right to bear arms are cornerstones of the American way of life. Trump’s "America First" agenda has always been about rejecting globalism and restoring American sovereignty. As someone who has witnessed firsthand the consequences of political Islam and the global reach of authoritarian regimes, I can understand the necessity of standing firm on national issues. Trump’s foreign policy focuses on keeping America’s interests paramount, whether that’s by withdrawing from multilateral agreements like the Paris Climate Accords or reframing foreign relationships with an emphasis on mutual benefit.

Trump has argued that strengthening American sovereignty is key to maintaining national security and ensuring that American interests come first in any international dialogue.
