“The differences between Shia and Sunnis are not fundamental,” said Grand mufti of Egypt Dr. Ali Jumma.

“The differences among Islamic denominations are in minor issues and all the Islamic schools have common principles in fundamental matters,” said Ali Jumma.

He underlined, “Egyptian people do not have any problem with Shias and they respect Ahlalbayt and Shia people.”

“Al-Azhar is the only university, among universities in other Sunni communities, which teaches Jafari Feqh,” said the Islamic scholar.

Ali Jumma went on, “During the history Egyptians got along well with Shias and had not any animosity toward this Islamic denomination.”

“Some of Sunni scholars assume that teaching Jafari Feqh can be dangerous in Sunni communities but on the contrary I believe that there stand no dangers in teaching Shia courses in the university,” he underlined.
